The inaugural blog post!

Welcome to "Psych Your Mind!" The goal of this blog is to better understand why people think, feel, and behave the way they do. This, I think we can all agree, is more difficult than it sounds. If for example, we are trying to explain why my neighbor bangs on the ceiling whenever I'm at home in my apartment, we certainly can generate some theories (e.g., s/he is aggressively swatting flies, doing exuberant jumping jacks, etc...). What's unique, in some ways, about this blog is that we'll be generating theories from science!

"What is science?" you ask. Well, all I mean by that is we will be trying to understand how people think about the world using scientific theories and real data from scientific discoveries.

Finally, I have been using the royal "WE" throughout this post. That is because the goal of this blog is to enlist scientific theories about how the world works, based on the brilliant research of some of my colleagues. As you (the reader) follow this blog, you'll meet all these scientific minds and become acquainted with how their interesting ideas can shed light on how people think, feel, and behave the way they do! It's one of those rare win (for you), win (for us) situations. Please make sure to come here often! And feel free to send comments about topics you'd like us to discuss.

Best,
Michael

P.S. If you have any questions about the blog, about topics in psychology, about life-in-general, or about current social events, please let us know in the comments. We'd love to try to answer your questions if we can!
